    Plumbing courses Manchester – Course Outline


    The full-time plumbing courses Manchester consists of eight weeks intensive plumbing training. Alternatively you have the option to complete the course over a period of time under our flexible learning scheme. All of our plumbing courses in Manchester will start at 8.30am and finish at 5.00pm.

    Course – Practical
    Combination units include theory and practical plumbing training and assessment that will take place in a supervised training centre led environment known as ‘off the job’ training.

    These plumbing training units include:
    • Safe working practises in building and the building services environment
    • Install and commission bathroom suites
    • Installation and commission of domestic heating systems
    • Install and commission hot water cylinders and cold water cisterns
    • Install/replace Immersion heaters
    • Rainwater system installation and maintenance


    In addition the plumbing training will include fault find and carry out maintenance/repair on domestic plumbing installations to include:
    • Replace a toilet syphon
    • Install thermostatic radiator valves
    • Install and maintain a variety of taps
    • Install and maintain central heating controls


    Performance Units
    Performance units are a professional review that is undertaken via a qualified assessment of a learner’s competence. Performance plumbing training units are completed ‘on-site’. In order to complete the NVQ Diploma you must then choose three system types that you wish to be assessed against.

    You must then build an acceptable on-site plumbing training portfolio that demonstrates that tasks have been completed competently ‘on-job or on site’. The portfolio will be assessed by an assessor; which includes on-site observation.

    Course – Theory
    Knowledge units include theory plumbing training, a small element of self study across of a variety of topics. Knowledge Units are assessed at the training centre using a series of invigilated GOLA exams.
