Plumbing Training – Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Plumbing and Heating 6189-11

With an emphasis on domestic plumbing and heating maintenance and installation this course is ideal for those that wish to ultimately pursue a career as a domestic plumber and provide an ideal platform for progression as a Registered Gas Installer.

Our plumbing training covers all aspects of domestic, industrial and commercial, plumbing, fault finding and maintenance. Changes in plumbing training.

The plumbing training – Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Plumbing and Heating 6189-11 is the newest industry recognised plumbing award. From March 2011 the 6189-11 will be the industry standard plumbing training, and we’re pleased to be one of the first plumbing training suppliers in the UK to be offering this course.

How our plumbing training is delivered:

Combination Units/ Practical Training
Combination units include theory and practical plumbing training and assessment that will take place in a supervised training centre.

Knowledge Units/ Theory Training
Knowledge units include plumbing training theory, a small element of self study across of a variety of topics.

Performance Units
Performance units are a professional review that is undertaken via a qualified assessment of a learner’s competence. Performance units are completed ‘on-site’. In order to complete the NVQ Diploma the learner must choose three system types that he or she wishes to be assessed against.

Plumbing Training – Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Plumbing and Heating 6189-11 – Outline

The full-time plumbing training consists of eight weeks intensive plumbing training . Alternatively you have the option to complete the course over a period of time under our flexible learning scheme . All plumbing training classes will start at 8.30am and finish at 5.00pm.

Course – Practical
Combination units include theory and practical plumbing training and assessment that will take place in a supervised training centre led environment known as ‘off the job’ training.

These plumbing training units include:

Safe working practises in building and the building services environment
Install and commission bathroom suites
Installation and commission of domestic heating systems
Install and commission hot water cylinders and cold water cisterns
Install/replace Immersion heaters
Rainwater system installation and maintenance

In addition the plumbing training will include fault find and carry out maintenance/repair on domestic plumbing installations to include:

Replace a toilet syphon
Install thermostatic radiator valves
Install and maintain a variety of taps
Install and maintain central heating controls

Performance Units
Performance units are a professional review that is undertaken via a qualified assessment of a learner’s competence. Performance plumbing training units are completed ‘on-site’. In order to complete the NVQ Diploma you must then choose three system types that you wish to be assessed against.

You must then build an acceptable on-site plumbing training portfolio that demonstrates that tasks have been completed competently ‘on-job or on site’. The portfolio will be assessed by an assessor; which includes on-site observation.

Course – Theory
Knowledge units include theory plumbing training, a small element of self study across of a variety of topics. Knowledge Units are assessed at the training centre using a series of invigilated GOLA exams.
