The RF Training Diploma in Installing and Maintaining Domestic Heating Plumber Training covers all aspects of domestic heating, plumbing, fault finding and maintenance.
This plumber training course has an emphasis on central heating design and installation. The plumber training is ideal for those that wish to pursue a career as a registered gas installer; it acts as a perfect foil for the BPEC Gas Foundation training programme.

The plumber training can be delivered as either a block or over a period of time to suit your own individual needs. Our plumber training is split into two parts – Theory Training on the understanding of plumbing and domestic heating systems and practical plumber training. This is followed by building your on site portfolio

How our plumber training is delivered:
Combination Units/ Practical Training
Combination units include theory and practical plumber training and assessment that will take place in a supervised training centre.
Performance Units
Performance units are a professional review that is undertaken via an assessment of a learner’s competence. Performance units are completed ‘on-site’. In order to complete the NVQ Diploma you must choose three system types that you want to be assessed upon.
Knowledge Units/ Theory Training
Knowledge units include theory plumber training, a small element of self study across of a variety of topics.

Plumber Training – Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Plumbing and Heating 6189-11 – Outline
The full-time plumber training consists of eight weeks intensive plumber training . Alternatively you have the option to complete the course over a period of time under our flexible learning scheme . All plumber training classes will start at 8.30am and finish at 5.00pm.
Course – Practical
Combination units include theory and practical plumber training and assessment that will take place in a supervised training centre led environment known as ‘off the job’ plumber training.
This plumbing training will include units such as the following:
- Pipe bending and jointing skills for copper pipe
- Install and test steel pipe
- Install and commission bathroom suites
- Installation and commission of domestic heating systems
Fault find and carry out maintenance/repair on domestic plumbing installations to include:
- Replace a toilet syphon
- Replace float operated valves
- Install isolating and servicing valves
- Install thermostatic radiator valves
- Install and maintain a variety of taps
- Install and maintain central heating controls
Performance Units
Performance units are a professional review that is undertaken via a qualified assessment of a learner’s competence. Performance units are completed ‘on-site’. In order to complete the NVQ Diploma the learner must choose three system types that he or she wishes to be assessed against.
you will then build an on-site portfolio of evidence that demonstrates that tasks have been completed ‘on-job or on site’. The portfolio will be assessed by an assessor; this will include on-site observation.
Course – Theory
Knowledge units include theory plumber training through a small element of self study across of a variety of topics. These Units are assessed at the training centre through a series of invigilated GOLA exams.
